Don’t Look Back

2012

eroding sculpture

99% Sodium Chloride (NaCl), 1% other salts

Dimensions: 37.5cm x 37.5cm x 175.0cm(H)

This proposal follows on from Salt Licks – a two storey high canvas of salt facing the North Sea designed to allow the sun, rain and wind-blown sand to leave it’s mark on its continually eroding surface.

“Don’t Look Back” is a human scale version of the same – a pillar of salt recalling the story of Lot’s wife; the pillar left to weather away over time leaving little trace of its existence.

Exhibited at the 7th Terrace Annual 2012, “The Art Is Falling Apart” exhibition.
