Baha’i Temple

International competition shortlist, 2003

Santiago, Chile

An international short-listed entry for the Baha’i Mother Temple of South America; a temple to be built on a site in the middle of a vineyard surrounded on all sides by the mountains of the Andes. A “land-scraper” and light instrument – formed of nine ribbons emerging from the landscape and intertwining to form a flower like form designed to follow the movement of the sun’s rays through the day. Selected for the architecture room at the Royal Academy show, summer 2004.
